Late night rug repair!

Rugs are one of those things that are a wonder to me- some may argue that they are not works of art, that weavers who just follow a pattern aren’t actually creating art. But I see them as pretty darn amazing!

This rug was brought into my shop for a good dusting and washing, and repairing where the dog had chewed up the fringe. The damage was pretty extensive, and I definitely under quoted the repair. I suppose we live and learn, right?

But this is how it’s looking so far, and I’m pretty pleased with the results!

One of the challenges with this kind of repair is getting the fringe the same length- which means pulling the rug apart to access the warp yarns that make up the fringe. I now have piles of yarn from removing an inch or so of the face yarns.

Several long nights so far, but it has been a fun adventure!
